We’re one!

One year ago today I embarked on this journey into the world of tea. In many ways, it seems like just yesterday I was frantically trying to learn everything about tea and run a business and  maintain my cheery disposition for my customers, oh wait, that WAS yesterday! If you’ve been in the store lately you know much has changed in a year! The storefront renovations are ongoing but I hope to have everything settled by November (except for the dust, that will take much longer). Looking back over the year, there was the closure of St. Paul...

Back to school!

Posted by on Aug 27, 2013 in Tea Talk | 0 comments

As September approaches (far too rapidly), we’ve been gearing up for back to school here at Gwen’s Teas. Next Tuesday and Wednesday (September 3 & 4)  we will be at Brock Orientation for Vendor Days – if you are a Brock student or faculty stop by and say hi! There will be special promotions and samples. The downtown store will remain open for regular hours those two days. I too will be returning to school in September – to take the Tea Sommelier program at George Brown College. It looks like a wonderful program and...

Sunday CLOSED NEW Mondays 12:00 – 4:00 NEW Tuesdays 10:00 – 6:00 Wednesday – Friday 10:00 – 5:30 NEW Saturdays 12:00 – 4:00 I’ve decided to extend my hours on Tuesday to coincide with the pilot evening market downtown. The market will be open from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. instead of during the day. An exciting opportunity for those who are usually working during regular market hours. Please spread the word about my...

Summer time!

Posted by on Jun 21, 2013 in Tea Talk | 0 comments

Welcome to summer! St. Paul Street seems to be finished (but I won’t make any guarantees) and we have some great new teas and mugs in store for you. Many of our teas make excellent iced teas for those hot summer days, perfect for picnics or days at the beach. Or maybe you are like me, in a working environment that blasts the A/C. I’ve found my hot tea consumption has increased with the warmer weather – nothing like a pot to keep you warm, rejuvenated and refreshed while at work! With the end of the school year rapidly...

Seven months in, what I’ve learned

Posted by on May 30, 2013 in Tea Talk | 0 comments

Well after seven months as a first time business owner and tea vendor my list of lessons learned is long but I’ve decided to do a top ten list of the most important lessons. 10. A customer that absolutely must have a particular product or tea and stops in everyday to request it will disappear as soon as said item is in stock. 9. The world of tea is vast and there will always be more to learn. Thank goodness for knowledgeable customers and Google! 8. Social media is a great way to connect with customers, and can make you feel like a...

This Wednesday night Gwen’s Teas will be at its first charity event – serving tea at Empty Bowls for Bethlehem Place. It should be an exciting night and we are happy to support this event. Looking ahead to April,...

We had a great holiday season, thank you to all of our terrific customers! After a much needed break we are back at the store and ready to sell more tea. We also have some great new products in store – tea cozies, new teapots and new mugs. Going forward our hours will be Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and we look forward...
